I was reading about Saul and Ananias in chapter nine of Acts today in devotions, and was challenged afresh by the faith of Ananias. He is told in a vision to go find Saul and to put his hands on Saul so that he (Saul) "Might receive his sight." Ananias did remind the Lord who Saul was and what he had been doing to Christians, but after the Lord's reply Ananias did not argue further. He instead obeyed the Lord, found Saul, put his hands on him, and addressed him as "Brother Saul."
Ananias obeyed the Lord because he knew God, not just as his Savior, but he knew Him to be trustworthy. This goes right along with the book I am reading currently, "The Choice Is Yours" by Terrie Chappell. In chapter three Terrie writes about how we train children at a very young age that they should be cautious about trusting people they do not know and how this correlates to spiritual life. We fail to trust God fully because we do not really know Him--as our Savior, yes, but as the true Friend He is, likely no.I wonder how different my life would look if I knew the Lord in a way that led me to trust Him 100%.
We should never be satisfied with where we are in our relationship with Christ; we should always be striving to know Him better.
