A Fan, A Handmade Snowflake, & A Cup of "Tea"

These three things made me smile. A crocheted snowflake that I have been using as a coaster, a cup of Russian tea--a drink I have enjoyed during these cooler days, and this pretty fan from a friend made me happy today. They're little and unnecessary to life for sure, but they are pretty/yummy and they are reminders of just how gracious God is! He gives us so much that we don't need or deserve.
Writing this post made me think of a poem my sister wrote (below). Oh let us count our blessings and be thankful for what we have. Thankful people are joyful people!

“It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich!” ~Dietrich Bonhoeffer

If I Count My Blessings

If I count my blessings
Their sum would surpass my breath
If I count my blessings
I realize how much I’m blest

I must count my blessings
My fainting heart to endure
I must county my blessings
And see that God’s love is sure

When I count my blessings
Every selfish longing flees
When I count my blessings
In thanks I fall to my knees

I shall count my blessings
And meditate on my God
I shall count my blessings
And share them with those abroad

Psalms 107:1
O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good:
for His mercy endureth for ever.

Our Father Knows Our Future

 Our Father Knows Our Future

Though our future may be unclear,
We have naught from it to fear,
If in Christ-given peace we rest
We’ll find our souls truly blest,
Worry has no place in our hearts
As the Spirit, grace imparts;
Trust now, and look no farther,
Delight and trust in your Father!

We cannot bear tomorrow’s load,
Nor see ahead down life’s road
But it’s enough to know this fact;
Only for our good, God acts
He tries and tests our faith and love,
Purging to yield fruit above,
He shows us where we need to grow,
That His deeper love we might know.
