These three things made me smile. A crocheted snowflake that I have been using as a coaster, a cup of Russian tea--a drink I have enjoyed during these cooler days, and this pretty fan from a friend made me happy today. They're little and unnecessary to life for sure, but they are pretty/yummy and they are reminders of just how gracious God is! He gives us so much that we don't need or deserve.
Writing this post made me think of a poem my sister wrote (below). Oh let us count our blessings and be thankful for what we have. Thankful people are joyful people!
“It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich!” ~Dietrich Bonhoeffer
If I count my blessings
I realize how much I’m blest
I realize how much I’m blest
I must count my blessings
My fainting heart to endure
I must county my blessings
And see that God’s love is sure
When I count my blessings
Every selfish longing flees
When I count my blessings
In thanks I fall to my knees
My fainting heart to endure
I must county my blessings
And see that God’s love is sure
When I count my blessings
Every selfish longing flees
When I count my blessings
In thanks I fall to my knees
I shall count my blessings
And meditate on my God
I shall count my blessings
And share them with those abroad
And meditate on my God
I shall count my blessings
And share them with those abroad

Psalms 107:1

for His mercy endureth for ever.
O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good:
for His mercy endureth for ever.
